A new gallery space inaugurated by Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers, Malaysia’s pioneering and one of Southeast Asia’s leading fine art auction house.
Curate hosts an ongoing curated programme of exhibitions presenting important and exciting modern and contemporary artists.
Curate strives to expose the local audience to art from around the world, and Malaysian Art to international platforms. Its ART TRIO series presents hidden gems from prominent private and corporate collections, providing collectors and art lovers rare opportunities to witness cultural treasure that has not been in the public eye. Constantly scouting for emerging artists, Curate will also present cutting edge and never seen before talents from around the region. It also showcases a variety of collectibles not confining to two dimensional paintings and drawings, focusing on developing a healthy collecting culture in the region.
Apart from exhibitions, a series of public art programmes, talks and workshops is organised to educate the public on various issues pertaining to art such as appreciation, collecting, framing, conservation, restoration, display and many more.
About Henry Butcher
Malaysian art industry is on the rise, with increasing level of interest in art and a growing awareness of art as an asset class. Nevertheless, art collecting still seems to be confined to a select group, while buying and selling is primarily done through dealers, galleries and the private base. Transactions of Malaysian art in public auction are far and few in between, even by established international auction houses. The absence of a strong and transparent secondary market has in a way limited the growth of art collecting in Malaysia as well as institutional acquisition and investment in Malaysian art.
Henry Butcher Malaysia, having had decades of asset auctioning experience, from real estate to plant & machinery, aspires to help rectify this situation by providing an additional avenue of sale and purchase of art pieces for galleries, collectors and investors. Thus the birth of Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers in 2009.
